KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SPEECH ARTS FESTIVAL

Elementary students continue to compete until Thursday of this week; the high school festival takes
place on Friday and Saturday. Come and watch your children perform at this annual TLA event, which
prepares students to speak in public with impunity and aplomb! Please check the schedules which have
been sent home for the best times to attend.

A sincere thank you to the Knights of Fr. Peter McGuire Council 4615, and Mrs.
Cathi Akhurst for their coordination & sponsorship of this annual festival!

PARENT PARTICIPATION PROGRAM WORK BEE APRIL 29

Thank you to coordinator, Mrs. Noemi Bucci, and all the parents and others in attendance for this event,
for their excellent work in keeping our school in fine form..

SCHOOL MASS – INTERMEDIATES (GR. 4 – 7) – MAY 9

As part of our regular Mass schedule, Mass will be offered in the school chapel at 2:05 PM on Tuesday,
May 9. All parents and family members are invited to join us for this time of worship..

CATHOLIC FRIENDSHIP MEET: FRIDAY, MAY 5

We look forward to a strong showing for TLA students on May 5, at the track meet at Coquitlam Town
Centre! Parents are reminded that students involved in track and field should come to school in
their PE strip on that day, and be picked up by parents at the track adjacent to Percy Perry
Stadium at 3:00 PM.
Students not involved in the track meet have regular classes on that day.

CHESS PLAYERS TO COMPETE IN TLA TOURNAMENT

Mr. Ralph Folino, who has been coaching TLA chess players throughout the school year during lunch
time chess club meetings, will be hosting a chess tournament on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 12:30 PM
in Room 305. Students will compete for cash and trophies; we wish all competitors well.

Victoria Day Long Weekend – Monday, May 22 is a holiday – School resumes Tuesday, May 23.

This is the centennial year of the Miracle of the Sun, and the apparitions of Our Lady to Blessed
Jacinta, Blessed Francisco, and Lucia, in Fatima, Portugal in 1917.
Catholics across the globe will be commemorating this anniversary; the Holy Father will be
traveling to Fatima on May 13; the Bishops of England and Wales have consecrated their
countries to the Immaculate Heart.
Invite your friends and family, parish priests and fellow parishioners to these joyful times of prayer!
