IMMACULATE CONCEPTION HOLIDAY TOMORROW
We wish all our families a blessed feast of the Immaculate Conception. School will not be in session tomorrow and we look forward to seeing our students back at TLA on Monday, December 11.
CHRISTMAS BASKET RAFFLE ITEMS STILL MISSING
A goodly number of families have not yet contributed to this year’s request for gourmet items for this year’s basket raffle. Tickets stubs for the raffle are trickling in, but here, too, a reminder is necessary. Both these items must be turned in to the school office by the Monday, December 11th deadline. Please note that the basket raffle is the way that we cover the expenses incurred by our Christmas concert, held this year at a special venue which makes the raffle all the more necessary! Participation by all families in this activity is required for it to be a success.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT REHEARSAL – WED., DEC. 13
Students in grades 2–12 will travel to the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby by school bus on Wednesday, in two large groups to practice for the concert. Grades 4 & 5 students, as well as grades 8–12 students, will depart TLA on the 8:30 AM bus, so students need to arrive in time for that. Parents who wish to arrive at TLA after that time may drop their students at the Michael J. Fox Theatre. We will require several teachers and parents to assist with driving students in private vehicles (as needed in grades five and up) to and from the theatre during the day. PPP hours are available for those who wish to take part, and who have seatbelts for four or more students. Please call the office as soon as possible to offer your assistance.
TLA CHRISTMAS CONCERT, Thursday, Dec. 14, 7:00 PM
This year our concert will take place at the Michael J. Fox Theatre, 7373 MacPherson Ave, Burnaby, BC V5J 2B7. Doors will open at 6:00, and STUDENTS ARE TO ARRIVE AT THE THEATRE NO LATER THAN 6:30 PM. We look forward to an evening of song and merriment!
VOLUNTEER CHOIR PRACTICE – TOMORROW, NOON – 3:00 PM
High school students will rehearse for the concert tomorrow at the school; lunch will be provided.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST – HIGH SCHOOL FIELD TRIP
Grades 8 – 12 students and several TLA teachers will be travelling by private vehicle and/or public transit to see a live production of Beauty and the Beast at the Stanley Theatre on Granville Street in Vancouver on January 3. Students will be dismissed from the theatre following the musical.
Knights of Columbus Cars & Cash Raffle Tickets
he Knights of Columbus Fr. Peter McGuire Council which sponsors our yearly Speech Arts Festival has provided us with 50 books of tickets @ $2.00 per ticket, or $20,00, for a book of ten tickets, to sell by our TLA community – to support them in this task. We will be sending these home to families after the break but several people have requested them beforehand to use as stocking-stuffers. Please contact the office for tickets!
A MESSAGE FROM LAST YEAR’S FIRE VICTIMS
To the staff, family and students of the wonderful school community at Traditional Learning Academy, My children and I would like to mark the one year anniversary of our house fire by having the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered at Westminster Abbey on December 11 in thanksgiving for all who gave us material, spiritual and moral support during that devastating time. Our community of friends has been the greatest blessing. We could not have risen from the ashes without you!
Love and prayers,
The Taschereau Family
