Dear Parents & Guardians,

I hope you have had a wonderful and rejuvenating Christmas holiday and are all looking forward to the return of school.

You will, no doubt, be aware that the Ministry of Education, under the direction of the Provincial Health Officer, has delayed the return of students as part of a phased restart due to the rise of the Covid omicron variant.

In accordance with the revised order from the PHO, schools will be open on Tuesday January 4th, 2022, for all staff members, children of teachers and other school staff, and children of health and health services workers. Schools will also be open to students with exceptional needs.

Please contact me by email at mdale@cisva.bc.ca before Monday, January 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM if these categories apply to your child and you intend to have your child attend school beginning Tuesday, January 4.

Schools will be open to all students the following week, beginning Monday January 10th, 2022. This additional time afforded to schools next week has been set aside by the ministry for schools to enhance their current COVID safety measures for a return to safe in-person learning.

Also, it provides the opportunity for public health to learn more about the Omicron variant, ensuring the right measures are in place to keep everyone safe.

We will keep you informed as more information becomes available. I ask your patience as we address these recent instructions from the Ministry.

If you have questions, please email me directly at mdale@cisva.bc.ca.

Sincerely,

Martin Dale, Principal
