EpiPens and Medic Alerts

On the recommendation from Fraser Health during an in-service yesterday with the school staff, we are modifying our school protocol regarding the management of students with life-threatening allergic conditions, requiring EpiPen injectors, or medic alert bracelets. Fraser Health strongly recommends that students requiring EpiPens to wear them on their persons at all times while at school and/or that they wear a medic alert bracelet or necklace. Minimally, for those students who may be anaphylactic we must have an up-to-date EpiPen provided by families to be stored in the school office for the use of their student. Additionally, parents of each student who requires the presence of an EpiPen at school or a Medic Alert, must complete an “Anaphylaxis Emergency Action Plan” available from the office. Families who have notified us of these already, have been sent a form today in a sealed envelope.

Bottle Drive Returns Tomorrow!

Bring in all your recyclables for tomorrow’s collection at school! Each student who turns in a bag of cans, bottles, drink boxes, or whatever has a return value, will receive a ticket for an incentive prize draw. Use this event to clear your homes of all those summertime memories!

Grades 8, 11 & 12 Kayak Trip – Complete!

An outstanding time afloat was had by all at this annual trip up Indian Arm, Canada’s southernmost fjord. Students learned about local native lore, geographical formations, marine biology, history, kayak paddling skills, and took part in leadership games on Twin Islands.

TLA Walk-A-Thon 2018 – Thursday, October 4

So far, our current school-wide student pledge collection average is $97.29, with only 99 out of our
student population of 186 participating. If we just consider our participating students, the average
pledge collection to date is over $181! All students are required to participate in the walk-a-thon, so
those who have yet to begin collecting pledges, it is time to start!!! We encourage all families to do their
utmost to support this major school fundraiser which benefits our whole TLA community. Cash and prize
incentives will be awarded to students who are particularly successful in this fundraiser! Our total to
date is approaching $18,000.00; our goal is $35,000!!!
