Seismic Upgrade update; External Evaluation at TLA Set; RC Challenge this Weekend

Seismic Upgrade Update: Our seismic upgrade team, along with the Building Committee is pleased to report good progress in the project for our school seismic upgrade. We now anticipate little, if any, alteration to a normal school calendar for the current year, so this will be forwarded to you as soon as we can. By December 7th, our construction company will provide an updated budget, with options, and by December 12th – the Feasibility Report will be anticipated from our project managers.

External Evaluation at TLA Set: The Ministry team will be at TLA on Friday, the 25th of November. We encourage students to pay especial attention to their uniforms and deportment on that day!

RC Challenge this Weekend: We are holding the second RCC competition at St. Pat’s Elementary in Maple Ridge this Saturday. We look forward to a strong showing on the part of our students at the upcoming event and urge them to prepare well to meet the competition. Rumour has it that other school teams have been practicing hard for this event so exciting times are anticipated. Thank you to all staff, senior students, and parents for volunteering to help at this event!

Walk-A-Thon Complete! A number of students have still not turned their pledges and pledge sheets to the office. These are to be submitted immediately, in one cheque, if possible.

Our Walk-A-Thon Prize Ceremony will take place once all pledges have been submitted.

TLA Christmas Fair: Brought to TLA for the first time last year by Mrs. Mary Seiler, this popular TLA event returns to our Activity Room – AKA The TLA Christmas Marketplace, in early December! As you organize your home for Christmas, and discover under-appreciated hidden treasures, please consider donating these new or gently used items to the fun! Items will range in price, generally from $5.00 to $20.00. Our Drop Off Deadline to bring items to the office will be Friday Dec 2, 2022. Featuring a broad array of wonderful Christmas gift ideas as well as other items, purchases will be gift-wrapped by our volunteer parents!

Capital Fund Now Due: Please complete any outstanding capital fund payments as soon as possible.

Hot Lunch Program Ramps Up Its Services: Our TLA hot lunch program will become much more frequent and regular as we face our upcoming seismic upgrade for the school. Along with the benefits of a wider variety of food choices, offered more frequently, we will be streamlining our ordering process which will not allow us to accept late orders – so please pay close attention to the ordering deadlines to avoid disappointment. Stay tuned for more information and take advantage of the chance to enjoy a variety of lunch selections!

High School Girls Vollyball Season News: TLA High School girls in grades 8 – 12 have been competing in the GVISAA Senior Girls Volleyball league, with their ultimate tournament held at John Knox Christian School, Secondary Campus, in New Westminster. The team has competed against others composed of only grade eleven and twelve students, so their performance has been admirable!

Remembrance Day 2022!

TLA Remembrance Day Ceremony: TLA students took part in our annual Remembrance Day Assembly for staff and students outdoors on Thursday, November 10, in anticipation of the National Day of Remembrance, November 11th. Students performed speeches, observances, hymns, songs, and presentations, as well as taking part in laying wreaths and placing poppies on the cross in commemoration of those who have fought, served, and fallen in the service of our country and its freedoms.
