Ministry of Education Letter and Notice from the Principal: Mar. 18 , 2020
Letter from the Ministry of Education: March 17, 2020
Message From The Principal
On our first day of the school closure, we find ourselves faced with many questions about how things will proceed from here.
The letter from Rob Fleming, the BC Minister of Education, posted above, addresses a number of the concerns and items which need to be addressed in the coming weeks: the importance of keeping our families healthy during this time of pandemic, the assurance that we are in the process of beginning to get things into place to maintain the continuity of education for our students, and the reassurance of students that their marks and transcripts will be dealt with in ways that do not negatively affect their future progress.
Please ensure that your email address, with a list of your children’s names and corresponding grade levels, is registered with the school office so that we may begin sending student study materials. Teachers have, in most cases, sent assignments home, and the remaining ones will do this soon, to cover the time between now and our regularly scheduled Spring & Easter break. A more formal approach will be adopted for the time following the break, beginning Tuesday, April 14.
The school office will be open during regular office hours, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM today and tomorrow, and on Friday until noon. After that, the school will be closed until further notice out of respect for the need for self-isolation. The answering machine will receive messages, and you may reach the school by email at tlaoffice@traditionallearning.com. The answering machine and email system will be monitored regularly.
The times we find ourselves in are tumultuous, but we must keep things in perspective. Ultimately, God is in charge, and we can take heed of the words of St. Francis de Sales:
“Anxiety is the greatest evil that can befall a soul, except sin. God commands you to pray, but He forbids you to worry. Do everything calmly and peacefully. Do as much as you can as well as you can. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.”
Martin Dale,
Principal, TLA Coquitlam
