COVID-19 School Closure Notice and Newsletter: Mar. 17 , 2020

Dear TLA Parents and Families,

After the announcements today from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, and after consultation with the Federation of Independent School Associations BC Executive Director, Mr. Shawn Chisholm, and members of the board of directors of the Traditional Learning Society of BC, I must announce that Traditional Learning Academy will be closed, effective Wednesday, March 18, until the end of our official Spring and Easter break, due to an abundance of caution regarding the well being of all its students, families, and staff members, in the current health situation. The school joins with the rest of society in its effort to self-isolate and preserve a social distance, in order to mitigate the effects of the COVID–19 pandemic.

Over the coming days, teachers will be assembling materials to forward to students to help maintain momentum in their learning while in isolation during the six school days between now and the start of our official Spring & Easter Break, beginning March 27. To facilitate this, students will be taking home texts and other study materials. For those who are already ensconced at home, parents may come by the school tomorrow to collect student texts and books, during normal office hours, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM.

It is vital that the office have your current parent email address for this means of communication to be enabled; please send the best email contact address for your family to:

tlaoffice@traditionallearning.com

Please ensure that in the email, you give the names of your children, and their corresponding grades, to expedite communications.

The date of issue for term two report cards will be announced shortly. It is likely that these will be available following the Spring & Easter break.

I urge all families to do their best to adhere to the recommendations of the public health authorities at this time, to take a calm and rational approach to the situation at hand, and to avoid the sense of panic which is likely to happen when too many sources of information are taken into consideration.

I wish everyone the very best during this challenging time. You and your families will be in my thoughts and prayers, and I ask that you keep me and the rest of the staff in yours.

St. Edmund Martyr, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely,

Martin Dale

TLA Principal

PRAYER OF ST. PATRICK

St. Patrick’s Prayer…Christ, protect me today
Against every poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against death-wound,
That I may receive abundant reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left,
Christ be with me
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I bind to myself today
The strong virtue of an invocation of the Trinity,
I believe the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe.

Amen
