Dr. Bonny Henry’s Covid – 19 Update, November 19

In her address to the people of British Columbia yesterday, provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry dedicated a portion of her time to the issue of schools during Covid time. She emphasized that school Covid-19 transmissions are low and schools will remain open and safe for students. The province has effective procedures in place to manage any school exposures to the disease quickly and effectively.

Dr. Henry did remind parents and caregivers to maintain social distancing at drop-off and pick-up times in the school yard. We will be reminding students to depart quickly from the school grounds at dismissal time, and to preserve the integrity of their cohorts while on the school grounds at these times. Teaching staff will remain on duty in the school grounds in full force during before and after school times to assist with this protocol.

Purdy’s Christmas Chocolate Fund Raiser

Our in-school fund raising efforts are somewhat curtailed this year. In light of this we urge every family to support this Purdy’s Christmas Chocolate Fund Raiser, with the purchase of even a single item from the selection. (Single items are priced as low as $4.00, and range up to $200.00, so there is something for everyone!)

Of course, there is no upper limit to the number of items to order. . . .

(Order Deadline, Nov. 25 – Pick-up at the school December 15)

The perfect gift for Friends, Family, Neighbours, Employees . . . Everyone!

Christmas Concert Update

One of the casualties of Covid-19 precautions is that our Christmas concert will not take the familiar format of our traditional TLA Christmas concerts. This year we will be preparing a Christmas Video Concert for families to enjoy, where classes and groups will have individual presentations to present to families as a treasured memory.

Pro Life Month at TLA

November 12 saw the start of Pro Life Month at TLA. Students engage in grade appropriate studies, talks, projects, and prayers, to increase their respect for life in all its stages, and initiate fund raising efforts to support local life issues. (These include Pregnancy Concerns which helps mothers in distress, North Shore Pro Life which sponsors the annual pro life essay competition, Birthright which helps mothers in need, the local food banks, and more!)
