PLAYGROUND SAFETY AND NEW PROCEDURES

Two individuals entered the school playground in the afternoon of a school day late last week, during a
PE class, without permission of the school or our staff. They were instructed to leave the property, and
the police were called. The two individuals spoke to several of our parents questioning them about their
kids at school, and who said that they had visited and spoken with me inside the school. Of course,
they have done nothing of the sort.

The police have confirmed that they know the individuals, and, if they are indeed the owners of the car
that they drove, are not residents of the local area. In response to the situation, the school has carried
out the following precautions:

  • informed all the teachers of the situation and will contact the police (non-emergency number)
should the individuals again encroach upon the school property.
  • Yard Duty personnel and Student Prefects are monitoring the situation closely during recess and
    lunch times.
  • The gate to the cul de sac will be locked from 8:50 AM until 2:50 PM to reduce the ease of
    access.
  • The children have been reminded of the danger of speaking to strangers and told that they must
inform their teacher or the yard duty supervisor of any strangers seen on the school grounds.
  • RCMP have increased their patrols of the area in case the individuals return.
  • And, finally, parents are hereby being informed of the situation.
Please keep your eyes out for any further incursions and inform the office of any should they occur. All
late arrivals to school must now come from the Rochester entrance.
