Pro Life Month at TLA

TLA has now reached the end of our Pro Life Month where we take part in activities that increase our respect for life at all of its stages, and which allow us to support those in need at this time of year. Please consider the projects below and contribute what you can to whichever cause you like:

Our particular project is to collect baby clothes to donate to Vancouver’s Birthright, to be distributed to mothers in need.

Our school also supports a local organization called Pregnancy Concerns, located off Austin which also supports mothers in distress and in need. The following items are needed:

A variety of Size 4 & up diapers, 18M -24M winter clothes for boys & girls, Wipes – small packages preferred, #2 Similac Formulas (clients generally do not request #1), Sippy Cups, Soothers, Baby wash & shampoo & body cream (moderate sizes), Body wash for moms, Nursing Pads. Diaper Cream, Receiving blankets, Baby Wash Cloths, Socks & Mitts, Booties, Bottles, Teething toys, Formulas

Bibs, Changing pads, Small stuffies (ie. 3 – 6 inches tall), Stretch mark cream for moms, and more!

Grade 2 & 5 are collecting food for the local food bank. Send non perishable food items!

Grades 7, 4 and 11 are selling Pro Life Christmas Cards (Check with students or see the office!)

RCMP to Help Reduce Driving Hazards at TLA

Parents are urged not to drop off students in the middle of the road at the cul de sac entrance on Howse Place; this causes children to have to scurry between moving cars at a considerable risk to their lives. Users of this entrance are also requested to observe the posted speed (50 KMPH), and follow the indications of the street signs. At the front of the school, drivers must avoid parking in the areas immediately adjacent to the school front steps and driveway at pick up and drop off times, as these are drop off zones only at those times of day. Drivers who make U-turns and those who stop in the driveway of the school, are also a serious hazard. It has even been reported that drivers have been discharging and picking up their children in the intersection as well as on the opposite side of the street in the bus zone, sending children running across the busy road, in order to save time walking the extra few feet to the crosswalk. To assist us in providing a safe environment for our students, the RCMP will begin patrolling the drop-off areas immediately.

We count on you to make our streets safe for everyone!
