Back to School Barbecue Postponed to Thurs., Sept. 21
We look forward to seeing all families at our annual Back to School Barbecue and Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, September 21, which has been moved back to allow better attendance.
School Uniforms Any students who do not have complete school uniforms are required to wear comparable items until the official school uniforms arrive; parents are asked to please send a note to the home room teacher with the student indicating when the missing items will be in place. Used uniform items are available for purchase through the school office. Mrs. Bucci will perform repairs & alterations to used school uniforms for a $5.00 fee per item. Please keep student uniforms clearly labeled with student names, and in good repair so that students may wear them with pride.
School Calendar This is posted on the TLA Website – overleaf current version – please keep an eye out for updates as they are announced. This is especially important with respect to events labeled, “TBC” for “To Be Confirmed”.
Student Pick-Up & Drop-Off Drivers of all students are asked to pick-up and drop-off students at the front or back gates, and not to accompany them to the line ups. This avoids traffic congestion at the drop-off & pick-up spots by reducing the number of parked cars, making things safer for everyone. Parents needing to visit teachers or the office should enter and leave by the front doors of the school and proceed directly to the office. School office hours are from 8:30 – 4:00 PM on school days. Dangerous driving is being monitored by the local police authority, and drivers have been getting tickets this week. Please do not pick up and drop off students in the school driveway or the school parking lot. Parking in the zone between the driveway and the front stairs is not allowed, this is for quick drop off of passengers where the driver does not exit the vehicle.
Entry Doors Students from Kindergarten to Grade Ten enter and exit the school using the north doors (rear doors) of the building. Students in Grade Eleven and Twelve may use both front & back doors. Although we have been relaxing this rule during the first week of school, because of parents and students needing to access the office, we will return to this practice in the coming week. Grade nine students who are on crosswalk duty may also use the front doors.
Home Stay Needed in an English-speaking family, for a grade six Korean boy who will be attending TLA for three months. Please contact the office in the coming week if you are interested in this opportunity to host this international student. Remuneration will be awarded for this service.
